Overseas Vietnamese are an integral part of Vietnam
(VOVworld) – Overseas Vietnamese are an integral part of and a powerful resource for Vietnam. According to a recent directive of the Party Politburo to promote the implementation of the Resolution on overseas Vietnamese affairs in the new context, the Politburo called on overseas Vietnamese to remain closely attached to the homeland.

Favorable conditions have been created for overseas Vietnamese to return to Vietnam, invest in Vietnam’s economy, and contribute to national construction and defense. The directive stressed the need to foster administrative reforms to help overseas Vietnamese buy a house in Vietnam, enjoy simplified Entry and Exit procedures, and transfer and use overseas remittances. Overseas Vietnamese are allowed to contribute ideas to and take part in Vietnam’s major social and political events.
The directive called for completing a mechanism and policies and creating laws to encourage overseas Vietnamese to invest in business and production, transfer technology, and promote exports. Vietnam has a policy of attracting and using overseas Vietnamese experts and intellectuals especially in fields essential for national construction and defense.
According to the directive, more activities are needed that encourage overseas Vietnamese to preserve their traditional culture and promote teaching and learning Vietnamese in the countries where they are living.
