PM Nguyen Tan Dung receives Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Luiz Vieira

(VOVworld)- At a meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Luiz Vieira in Hanoi on Monday, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said Vietnam respects and wants to boost cooperation with Brazil in various fields for mutual benefit.

Dung said Vietnamese leaders welcomed President Dilma Rousseff's official visit to Vietnam later this year. He said both countries should enhance economic and trade cooperation, while collaborating and supporting each other at multilateral forums and international organizations, contributing to regional and global peace, stability, security, cooperation, and development.

Briefing the Vietnamese Prime Minister on the outcomes of his talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Brazilian Minister Mauro Luiz Vieira said the two sides agreed to boost cooperation in various fields ranging form politics, diplomacy to economics, trade and investment. He said Brazil would recognize Vietnam’s market economy status, accelerate negotiations on the signing of an Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement, and increase two-way trade from 3 billion USD in 2014 to 10 billion USD in 2020. Minister Mauro Luiz Vieira said Brazil supported Vietnam in all multilateral forums and international organizations and Vietnam’s candidacy to the UN Security Council’s Non-Permanent Membership in the 2020-2021 term.
