(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the government’s meeting for August on Monday. Cabinet members discussed 5 bills and some ordinances and decrees and assessed the socio-economic situation in August and since the beginning of the year.

Mr. Phuc said Vietnam’s economy had recovered over the reviewed period: “Production and business activities have been revived and social confidence on the market has been restored. Many cities and provinces have enhanced investment promotion and reform to create conditions conductive for business. We need to focus on the people and businesses who create and generate job. Provinces have to realize their socio-economic goals to escape poverty and reduce dependence on state budget allocation.”   

The Prime Minister said the government would discuss the privatization of big enterprises via transparent procedures such as bidding and listing on the securities market. Publicity would increase Vietnamese and foreign investors’ trust.

At the meeting the government listened to the Finance Ministry’s report on the management and effective use of public assets.
