Mr. Phuc praised the health sector’s achievements last year and underlined this year’s top priority - the development of grass-roots medical care and provision of health services to all people.

He said: “The medical sector should continue to innovate and improve the quality of services with a focus on grass-roots healthcare and management. The model of family doctor is more suitable to urban areas than to poor mountain regions.”

The Prime Minister asked health workers to consider their patients’ satisfaction the primary goal.

In addition to applying advanced technologies to governance and management, PM Phuc urged the sector to simplify administrative procedures, improve medical tests and accelerate the project to share test results among hospitals.

He urged speedy construction of both central and satellite hospitals and support for new private medical facilities to ease the current overcrowding.
