PM: sovereignty disputes must be settled peacefully

(VOVworld) – Vietnam is consistent in protecting its legitimate interests, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung regarding tensions in the East Sea, in his interviews with Deutsche Welle and Le Monde, during his recent official visit to Germany.

He said that Vietnam is willing to join other countries to build strategic and sustainable trust on the basis of the UN Charter, respecting independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non interference in each other’s internal affairs. He added that any disputes should be settled peacefully on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, contributing to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and the world. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stated that Vietnam welcomes major countries’ policies towards the Asia-Pacific region, provided that those policies are in accordance with international law and regional institutions, and not affecting regional countries’ independence and sovereignty.
