(VOVworld) – The Party Central Committee opened its 10th plenum in Hanoi on Monday under the chairmanship of Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong.
In his key note address at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong said the meeting is particularly significant for the leadership to fulfill the targets and tasks set for 2015 and to successfully organize Party congresses at all levels in the run up to the 12th National Party Congress.
Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said: “Delegates should discuss carefully and give opinions on a draft document to be submitted to the 12th National Party Congress with a focus on specific proposals and recommendations, guidelines, policies, and strategic renewal breakthroughs. Special attention should be given to policies on reform methods of breakthrough and strategic significance which are still generating controversy. It’s also necessary to analyze the implementation of the 11th Party Congress’ resolution.”
Regarding the socio-economic report, Party leader Trong urged the Party Central Committee to give an accurate assessment of the socio-economic situation and take into account new opportunities and advantages while coping with unforeseen difficulties and challenges to devise orientations and tasks for the next 5 years until 2020. Mr. Trong noted: “the agenda of this plenum is of great significance for the direction to complete missions set for this year and for the entire term towards successful organization of Party Congresses at all levels and the 12th National Party Congress. Thus Party Central Committee members and delegates to this meeting should bring into full play their knowledge and responsibilities to scrutinize draft reports and projects ahead of making decisions on major issues.”
After the opening session, Politburo Member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education Dinh The Huynh presented the Politburo’s Draft Political Report to be submitted at the 12th National Party Congress, and a Draft Report reviewing theoretical and practical issues of 30 years of renovation. Politburo member and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung presented the Politburo’s Draft Report reviewing the implementation of socio-economic development targets from 2011 to 2015 and targets for the next five years until 2020.
The same day, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission To Huy Rua presented the Politburo’s Draft Report reviewing the implementation of Party regulations of the 11th Party Central Committee and the Project on Strategic Officials Planning. The delegates discussed in group the draft reports reviewing theoretical and practical issues of 30 years of renovation and the implementation of Party regulations of the 11th Party Central Committee.
The 10th plenum will run through January 12.
