The Committee said the practices have meet all the 5 criteria to be recognized as intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The beliefs in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms: heaven, water, and mountains and forests, have been practiced across northern provinces since the 15th century. The traditional practices, which involve daily worship and participation in ceremonies and rituals like spirit possession, help to maintain part of the community’s history, cultural heritage and identity.
