President Tran Dai Quang attends Vietnam-Brunei Business Forum

(VOVworld) – President Tran Dai Quang attended the Vietnam-Brunei Business Forum as part of his visit to Brunei on Sunday. At the forum, leaders of Vietnamese ministries informed businesses of economic potential in which both sides can work together.

Vietnamese and Brunei companies exchanged views on investment opportunities in order to boost trade ties between the two countries. President Quang told the forum that Vietnam’s socio-economic plan until 2020 aims at green growth, which will enhance productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable development towards industrialization and modernization. Mr. Quang added in the next 5 years, Vietnam aims to achieve a GDP growth rate from 6.5% to 7%, GDP per capita to be 3,500 USD, and the national economy to reach 350 billion USD.

President Quang said Vietnam and Brunei have gained important agreements and agreed to boost cooperation in high-tech agriculture, oil and gas, and transport infrastructure:“I call on the business community from both sides to strengthen their role to make Vietnam-Brunei trade, investment ties match the potential. We encourage Brunei businesses to invest in areas of Vietnam’s needs and work with their Vietnamese partners in energy, finance, real estate, tourism, and infrastructure development."

President Quang pledged favourable conditions for foreign investors, including those from Brunei, to do successful, sustainable, and long-term business in Vietnam.

On this occasion, the President witnessed the signing of an agreement between Vietnam’s Ministry of Trade and Investment and Brunei’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
