(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang met with Liaison Committee of Army regiment 2 in Hanoi on Sunday in anticipation of the 40^th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification.

This was one of the units that entered Independence Palace to capture cabinet members of the former Saigon government, contributing greatly to the victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign. President Sang said he hoped the war veterans will continue to contribute to national construction and defense in the new era: “Many soldiers laid down their lives for the April 30 victory. I hope that you will advise the local Party committees and administrations in Party building and other areas, contributing to national construction and defense.”

President Sang said that the Party and state always care for those who rendered a great service to the nation and will continue resolving issues related to the recognition of war invalids and martyrs and searching for remains of fallen soldiers.
