President Quang then had a meeting with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives from the overseas Vietnamese community where he praised the embassy’s efforts to implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies. He briefed them on major points on Vietnam’s security, political, and socio-economic situations in recent times.
Mr. Quang added that despite the complicated developments in the world, the Vietnamese economy still grew 6.68% last year, the highest rate over the past eight years. Its politics and social security have been maintained, while its external relations have been expanded. In the next five years, Vietnam aims to achieve a GDP growth rate of 6.5% to 7% by 2020.
President Quang reiterated Vietnam’s unswerving policy of respecting the patriotism of overseas Vietnamese and said he hopes the embassy staff and overseas Vietnamese in Singapore would stay united and work harder to contribute to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
