(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang visited former Hoa Lo political prisoners during the 1930-1954 period in Hanoi on Tuesday.

He said that Hoa Lo prison witnessed the crimes French colonialists committed against Vietnamese revolutionaries and compatriots. He praised the contributions of generations of revolutionary soldiers to Vietnam’s struggle for independence and freedom. He added that their example would forever shine in Vietnam’s national construction and defense: “It was here that the revolutionary soldiers upheld a high and staunch fighting spirit that foiled many oppressive attempts by the wardens. This glorious tradition was continued in many other prisons during the national resistance war against US imperialists.”

The president asked ministries and Hanoi authorities to propose new policies to take better care ofevolutionary soldiers.
