Promoting craft villages in international integration

(VOVworld)- A workshop on enhancing the development of craft villages in international integration took place in Hanoi on Monday. In his address, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan stressed the importance of preserving traditional craft villages.

He said the VFF will submit to the Government a project on Vietnamese craft village development directions for the 2025-2030 period. Participants at the seminar called for acceleration of applied science and technology to improve the competitiveness of craft products. They urged for more incentives to promote craft occupations in rural and mountain areas. Luu Duy Dan is President of the Vietnam Craft Village Association: “In order to preserve and promote the cultural values of craft villages, we need to expand cultural tourism among Vietnamese ethnic groups. We need to assist exhibition centers, museums and cultural houses to promote the products of craft villages. We should support the restoration of temples dedicated to worship of craft founders”.

There are more than 5,000 craft villages across Vietnam. Many of them are well-known such Van Phuc silk, Dong Ho folk painting, Bat Trang ceramic, Son Dong carpentry and Phu Vinh bamboo village.
