(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a working session on Thursday with leaders of Quang Ninh province on the local socio-economic development and orientations for future growth.

Prime Minister Phuc praised Quang Ninh for its efforts to mobilize social resources and its leading role in using the private-public cooperation model. Quang Ninh has selected tourism as one of its economic spearheads and is focusing on expanding its infrastructure system to establish the Van Don Special Economic Zone.

“Quang Ninh has envisaged becoming an economic driver of the north and Vietnam, an international exchange center, and a destination for investors, tourists, cargos, and breakthrough initiatives,” said Mr. Phuc, adding “I hope that Quang Ninh will post the highest economic growth and lead the development in the key northern economic zone.  To that end, it is crucial to build trust among local and foreign investors along with devising a cohesive, long-term master development strategy.”

Prime Minister Phuc asked Quang Ninh to continue to invest in infrastructure, environment management, especially in handicraft villages and residential areas around Ha Long Bay.

Earlier the same day, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc inspected the Quang Ninh Airport project, a key infrastructure project of the Van Don Economic Zone.
