(VOVworld)- A requiem for martyrs in Con Dao took place in Hang Duong cemetery on Saturday. More than 2,000 Buddhist dignitaries and followers, former prisoners, war veterans, and local authorities and people attended the event.

Nguyen Van Hau is a former political prisoner in Con Dao: “Upholding the national tradition of drinking water, remember its source, the  Liaison Committee of Political Prisoners of Hanoi and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha organized this requiem to pay gratitude to martyrs and their great sacrifices for the nation. The ceremony also aimed at educating the heroic tradition and promoting national pride among younger generation, and raising their awareness about safeguarding national maritime sovereignty.”
