(VOVworld) – National Assembly deputies agreed Thursday that the revised Press Law spells out certain provisions of the 2013 Constitution and creates a legal framework in which the press can develop healthily and effectively in the right direction. The revised Press Law includes a new chapter on press freedom and free speech in the press. Deputy Nguyen Ngoc Phuong represents Hoa Binh province: "The Press Law is revised to accord with the 2013 Constitution aimed at promoting democracy, citizens’ rights, and press responsibilities in society. Revisions are also aimed at upgrading the press’s organizational structure."

Lawmakers noted that press freedom and free speech must be in accordance with the law and are not allowed to be used to harm national or public interests. On Thursday morning, lawmakers passed a resolution on the implementation of bailiff regulations, to come into effect early next January, and a revised Law on Professional Military Personnel and Defense Workers and Officers, scheduled to be effective next July.
