(VOVworld) – Russia will take all necessary steps to bring home a Russian citizen named Dmitry Ukrainski who was arrested by Thai police last Friday in Pattaya, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the Ministry summoned Thailand’s Chargé d’affaires in Moscow to send a note of protest stating that the extradition of a Russian citizen to the US is unacceptable.

Zakharova said Russia has received no official notification either from Thailand or the US explaining the reason for the Russian citizen’s arrest.

According to Thai police, Ukrainski was arrested at the US’s request on suspicion of money laundering in the US.
