(VOVworld) -  Russian President Vladimir Putin has changed the schedule of his Latin American tour and arrived in Nicaragua for a brief working visit. On his way from Cuba to Argentina on Saturday, the Russian leader decided to make a stopover in Managua, where he had been officially invited earlier by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.

This is the first visit of a Russian state leader to Nicaragua. During talks with Nicaraguan president, both leaders discussed a number of issues including Russian provision of wheat and agricultural machine for Nicaragua as well as Russian placement of GLONASS ground stations there. Putin said more need to be done to develop bilateral ties but the two countries have already had a good foundation for future cooperative development.
