(VOVworld) - A photo exhibit on China’s illegal construction of artificial islands in the East Sea opened at Kyung Hee University, a renowned school in Seoul on Sunday. The exhibit was organized by an association of descendants of Vietnam’s Ly dynasty family in the RoK as part of the 11th festival of Vietnamese students there. The exhibit features 40 photos of China’s illegal island construction in the East Sea and copies of old maps proving Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes. Opening the exhibit, association chairman Lee Seung Young said the exhibit is intended to give visitors an insight into Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty and China’s illegal island construction which is transforming the reefs of Vietnam’s Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes. In a speech at the Vietnamese students’ festival, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Huu Chi said he hopes the event will help RoK and foreign visitors gain a better understanding of China’s illegal island building, which is a serious violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty, and of Vietnam’s efforts to protect its sovereignty in the East Sea. This is the fourth exhibit on this topic that has been held in the RoK. The previous events were organized in cities of Busan, Gwangju, and Daejeon.
