(VOVworld) - South Korea has strongly denounced North Korea’s launch of a ballistic missile on the same day that it was found in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

Seoul's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday that Pyongyang’s launch blatantly violated UN Security Council resolutions, which ban all launches based on ballistic missile technology, and strongly slammed Pyongyang for Friday’s launch. The ministry said it was a grave provocative act, threatening peace on the Korean peninsula and in the world, and was in defiance of the new UN Security Council resolution imposed over North Korea’s latest nuclear test and rocket launch. The Ministry said that South Korea will push for necessary measures rapidly at the UN Security Council in cooperation with the international community and make all-out efforts to pressure the North to give up its nuclear and missile programs. It added that Seoul will sternly deal with any of Pyongyang’s provocations while maintaining complete defense preparedness.
