South Korea political scandal: government stays firm on financial market stabilization

(VOVworld) – The South Korean Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho reiterates the government’s persistence to economic stabilization following the impeachment of President Park Geyn-hye. The Minister told an extraordinary meeting on Friday that public spending and economic stimulus packages will be deployed on schedule. He had sent letters to international ratings agencies confirming South Korean economy’s competency to overcome current political challenges. South Korean army also repeated its commitment to deploy the US missile defense shield THAAD as soon as possible regardless of the political turmoil.

Meanwhile, acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn has urged the government to ensure military vigilance and security for the people in his telephone conversation with Defense Minister Han Min-koo. He also asked the Foreign Ministry to ensure the international community’s understanding of unchanged foreign policy following Ms. Park’s impeachment.
