(VOVworld)- A workshop on Vietnam’s strategy on cruise tourism development opened in Hue city on Wednesday as part of the Hue Festival 2014. 19 presentations at the workshop focused on Vietnam’s general development of tourism and cruise tourism in particular. Vietnam receives about 200,000 cruise tourists each year and the number has increased in recent years. However, infrastructure, tourism products and the promotion of cruise tourism remain limited. Vietnam now has 39 seaports, but most of them are used to receive cargo and container ships. Ho Anh Tuan is Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism: “The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has directed the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to work on an action plan to develop seaports to serve cruise tourism. It is important to develop attractive tourism products as well”.
