(VOVworld) – President Tran Dai Quang has urged local authorities to turn Phu Yen into a developed province in Vietnam’s south-central coastal region.

At a working session with Phu Yen’s leaders on Monday, President Quang stressed the need for developing support industry, green energy, agro-forestry-fishery processing, while assisting small and medium sized enterprises and handicraft villages with exports and upgrading transport infrastructure. Mr. Quang asked for efforts to build South Phu Yen economic zone into one of the industrial centers and major sea ports of the region and develop tourism as a key economic sector by diversifying tourism products and boosting links with other localities. He also called on Phu Yen to encourage the application of technological advances to improve the productivity and quality of agricultural produce, while combining the program of building new rural with investment projects for agriculture. President Quang added Phu Yen should fulfill these tasks so as to achieve their goals of socio-economic development, defense and building political system.
