UN: Vietnam is a reliable partner in the peace keeping force

(VOVworld) –UN leaders highly appreciated Vietnam’s active participation in the UN’s peace keeping activities and hoped that Vietnam would be a reliable partner in peace keeping efforts. The statements were made during a visit to UN agencies by a Vietnamese army delegation led by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, from October 14 – 16.

Lieutenant General Tuan and Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, worked with Ameerah Haq, UN Deputy Secretary General, Edmond Mulet, Assistant Secretary General for Peace keeping Operation at the United Nations and other UN agencies. The participants said Vietnam’s establishment of a peace-keeping center and sending two communication officers to South Sudan were vivid evidence of Vietnam’s determination to contribute to UN peace-keeping. The UN officials expressed their belief that well trained, disciplined and experienced Vietnamese forces would benefit future UN peace keeping campaigns.
