(VOVworld) – The US House of Representatives has approved a budget bill for the 2016-2017 period which includes tougher sanctions against Cuba, restricting certain “people to people” educational exchange trips (1 of 12 approved reasons for Cubans to travel to the US).

The bill also bans financial transactions with entities linked to the Cuban military and granting of intellectual property rights to owners of properties confiscated by the Cuban government. The bill is likely to be vetoed by President Barack Obama.
