Bowe Bergdahl, a Taliban captive for nearly five years, was handed over Saturday to the US military in Afghanistan in a negotiated exchange for the release of five senior Taliban detainees at the US prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Speaking in Washington on Saturday, President Obama announced that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was freed and handed over to the US at a secret area in Eastern Afghanistan. Bergadahl’s released was made with indirect negotiations between the US and Taliban with the mediation of Qatar.
