National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung told visiting US Trade Representative Michael Froman in Hanoi on Tuesday that National Assembly strongly supports negotiations to reach the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement between Vietnam and the US to meet the aspirations of the two peoples. Mr. Froman said Vietnam and the US needed to make further efforts to finalize the TPP soon, adding that the agreement would open a new chapter for economic and political relations between the two countries. Froman said that the US wants the National Assembly ministries to support the amendment of related laws to assure the successful enforcement of the TPP.

On the same day, while receiving US Trade Representative Michael Froman, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said Vietnam will do its best to take part in the TPP and work together with the US to overcome any difficulties in the TPP negotiation process. Mr. Ninh expressed his hope that the US and TPP member countries would take into consideration the development gap to suit the different conditions of different countries. He urged for more focus on Vietnam’s benefits in garment, textiles and leather foot wares.
