The Vice President’s office said Biden’s comments about the counter-IS campaign in Syria did not imply that the UAE has armed and funded terrorists in Syria, adding that he appreciates the UAE’s role in fighting extremist groups.
Biden angered US allies last Thursday when he suggested in a speech at Harvard University that Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE have given hundreds of millions of USD and thousands of tons of weapons to Sunni fighters trying to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
