(VOVworld) – In a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said he looked forward to working with him to develop a constructive relationship that benefits both countries.

The letter thanked Xi for his congratulatory note on Trump's inauguration and wished the Chinese people a prosperous Lunar New Year of the Rooster, the White House said in a statement on Wednesday.

Since President Donald Trump took office, the US and Chinese leaders have yet to speak directly. Experts said bilateral ties will see changes under the Trump administration who has tougher stance than his predecessor Barack Obama on China’s militarization in the East Sea and unfair trade regulations.
