(VOVworld) – On Wednesday, the US expressed its readiness to cooperate with the Bolivian government in the fight against smuggling and drug crime. US would want to discuss solutions and measures applied by the Bolivian government during anti-drug and anti-smuggling campaigns, said a statement by the US embassy in La Paz.

The statement followed an accusation by Bolivian president Evo Morales that the US politically manipulated coca cultivation statistics to justify the anti-drug campaign’s failure in the region. Mr. Morales denied a claim by the US that Bolivia currently has 35 thousand hectares of coca, which is more than the 20,400 cited by the UN recently.
