(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called on the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union to work more closely with various agencies to uphold the role of young Vietnamese people in national construction and defense.

At a meeting on Saturday, PM Dung asked the Union to organize more practical activities to promote the youth’s strength. Mr. Dung congratulated the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union on the occasion of its 83^rd founding anniversary, presented cups and gifts to 10 exemplary young people of 2013. Acknowledging their efforts to overcome daily hardship and excel in their study and work, Mr Dung expressed his wish that these outstanding individuals will continue to try their best to deserve the exemplary youths of Vietnam’s younger generation.

To mark the Youth Union's 83^rd founding anniversary, various activities have been held nationwide. An exchange program was organized in Hanoi on Friday to honor exemplary young people of 2013. At the program, 20 outstanding young people were presented with certificates of merit from the Union.

The Youth Unions of Hai Duong province and Hanoi commended outstanding youth union’s secretaries. Meanwhile, young people of the youth unions of Quang Binh and Ben Tre provinces launched movements to build works in which youths will play a key role.
