The event attracted 30 Algerian import/export, agricultural processing, investment, and construction businesses. Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Pham Quoc Tru highlighted the potential for economic cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria, adding that many Vietnamese products have become popular in Algeria’s market and vice versa. He said the two-way trade reached 250 million USD in 2014 and 235 million USD in 2015. Launched in 2015, the joint project between the Petro Vietnam Corporation, Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Company, and Algeria’s state-owned oil and gas company Sonatrach produces 18,000 barrels a day. Ambassador Tru said he is confident that the seminar helps the two sides learn more about each other’s markets. Participants discussed ways to boost future economic ties between the two countries.

The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Embassy and Trade Office in Algeria and the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI).
