Vietnam, Cambodia foster solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation

(VOVworld) – The National Assembly heads of Vietnam and Cambodia have agreed to cooperate on international issues of mutual concern and strengthen co-operation in inter-parliamentary forums and regional parliaments that both countries are members of.

At a meeting between Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly Heng Samrin and Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, the two briefed each other on their countries’ economic situation and social activities. They expressed satisfaction with the economic co-operation, trade, and investment between the two countries at all levels. They agreed to continue to implement agreements reached between the two governments in economics, trade, investment, culture, education, national defense, and border demarcation.

On Tuesday afternoon Chairwoman Ngan met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hunsen at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.

Ms. Ngan affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to consolidating and strengthening its traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation with Cambodia. She said Vietnam hopes the two countries will work together to develop their bilateral ties for the benefit of their two peoples. Prime Minister Hunsen thanked Vietnam for helping people along their border gain access to medical services. He stressed the need to teach the younger about the time-honored friendship between the two countries. Localities in the border areas of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia need to enhance their friendship to develop a border of peace, stability and development.
