(VOVworld) – The Cambodian government and people are determined to protect and develop Cambodia’s relationship with Vietnam and not let anything undermine the two countries’ special solidarity. The spokesperson for the Royal government of Cambodia Phay Siphan told VOV’s correspondent in Cambodia on Thursday. Referring to protestors’ who gathered in front of the Vietnamese Embassy shouting provocative and distorted messages about Vietnam-Cambodia relations, Mr Siphan said: "I’d like to stress that Vietnam is not a security threat to Cambodia but a source of encouragement that we trust in. We are determined not to let any groups of people ignorant of history divide us or incite actions to sabotage bilateral relations with Vietnam. We have historical heritages that cannot be separated. In the Vietnam-Cambodia Border Declaration, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, National Assembly Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin, and Senate President Chea Sim expressed their wish to resolve the two countries’ differences on the basis of mutual respect. Security, peace, and close cooperation are the two nations’ ultimate goals that cannot be distorted and damaged by any extremists who will never have the Cambodian people’s support"

Sinphan said the Cambodian government will improve public awareness of history of Vietnam and Cambodia and international law. He added that the Royal government of Cambodia is determined to abide by domestic and international laws in this matter.
