(VOVworld) - The Vietnamese embassy and the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute met with Chilean journalists to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam’s diplomatic sector on August 28.

President of the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute Patricia Abarzua briefed the reporters on the South East Asian situation and the relationship between ASEAN nations and Chile. She focused on recent sovereignty disputes in the East Sea and their impact on Latin America.

In response to journalists’ questions, Vietnamese ambassador Ngo Duc Thang said the Vietnamese Party, State and government believe in resolving all East Sea disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law, in maintaining the status quo, in not worsening the regional tension, and in promptly completing the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
