Vietnam, Cuba strengthen friendship and cooperation

(VOVworld) – Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla is on an official visit to Vietnam. On Wednesday, he held talks with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh during which they discussed ways to foster friendship and cooperation between the two countries as well as regional and global issues of common concern.

The two diplomats agreed to continue implementing signed agreements to enhance cooperative mechanisms, particularly the Inter-governmental Committee on economic, scientific and technological cooperation. They also agreed to increase bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, agriculture, oil and gas, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medicine, construction, telecommunications, and the production of electronic and consumer goods. They also agreed to hold a number of activities next year to mark the 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

He was received by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong on Wednesday. The Vietnamese party leader praised the achievements of the Cuban Party, State and people in implementing resolutions of the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party.

He expressed his hope that under the leadership of the Cuban Communist Party, the people of Cuba will succeed in economic model restructuring to continue on the path of socialist building. He thanked Cuba’s support for Vietnam in the past and confirmed Vietnam’s continued support for Cuba’s heroic struggle. He said that the two countries will have practical measures to educate the young generations on their special friendship and relations. The Cuban Foreign Minister also paid courtesy visits to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and met with the head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission Hoang Binh Quan.
