Fekl stressed that France attaches importance to its relationship with Vietnam – one of the most dynamic economies in Southeast Asia:“Vietnam is a dynamic economy. Last year, its economic growth rate was 7%. We praised Vietnam’s open policy which has persuaded France to sign multiple agreements with Vietnam. Trade turnover between Vietnam and France has increased rapidly reaching 5.6 billion euros last year, up 43%. We believe that the potential for bilateral cooperation remains high. We hope our President’s visit to Vietnam will create new momentum to heighten our bilateral cooperation”.

Vice Minister Nguyen The Phuong said the annual dialogue offers an opportunity for the two countries to promote their ties inbusiness , trade, investment and development. He said Vietnam places importance on its economic ties with France. The two sides agreed to prioritise cooperation in green growth and mitigating the effects of climate change on agriculture. They also looked into key French ODA-funded projects - the Hanoi Train Station-Nhon urban metro rail, supply of medical equipment to the Can Tho city General Hospital and the launch of the second remote sensing satellite VNRED Sat-2.
