Vietnam, Indonesia target 10 billion USD in trade by 2018

(VOVworld) - Vietnam and Indonesia have agreed to increase two-way trade to 10 billion USD by 2018 as part of their bilateral strategic partnership.

According to a press release by the Indonesian Foreign Ministry on the results of APEC, ASEAN, and G20 meetings, the target was set during a meeting between Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang and Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Beijing.

The two leaders discussed bilateral ties and ASEAN and East Sea issues, agreeing to increase cooperation in agriculture, marine transport, and trade. President Widodo promised that his government will give priority to its friendship and strategic partnership with Vietnam to build an ASEAN community and preserve peace and prosperity in the region and the world. The two countries will celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.

Indonesian media have praised Vietnam as an emerging market for multinational companies and foreign investors, especially in production. According to Indonesia’s media and agencies, Vietnam and Indonesia have numerous opportunities for mutual benefit.
