Vietnam, Laos foster special solidarity

(VOVworld)-Vietnam and Laos have agreed to strengthen cooperation and solidarity between the two National Assemblies and peoples. During talks in Hanoi on Monday, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and her visiting Lao counterpart Pany Yathotou reiterated the two countries’ commitments to support each other in the international arena and promote signed projects and programs. They said that reciprocal visits between Vietnamese and Lao leaders have created the framework and momentum for bilateral relations.

Meeting with the Lao National Assembly Chairwoman, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc described her visit as an especially important political event, creating new momentum to deepen the special solidarity between the two nations. Mr. Phuc underscored that Vietnam treasures and gives top priority to bilateral ties. He called for stronger Vietnam-Laos cooperation to promote ASEAN’s central role and consensus in regional strategic issues including the East Sea.

Chairwoman Yathotou said that closer cooperation between the two Governments will be the driving force for two-way trade. She expressed her belief that Vietnam will successfully host APEC Year 2017.

At a reception for Ms. Yathotou, State President Tran Dai Quang urged the two National Assemblies to strengthen oversight and create favorable conditions for investment projects in Vietnam and Laos. Chairwoman Yathotou highlighted Vietnam’s growing status globally and promised to ensure effective implementation of bilateral projects.   

During a meeting with the top Lao lawmaker, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong called on the 2 National Assemblies to tighten cooperation to successfully implement signed agreements between Vietnam and Laos. The 2 sides praised the special solidarity and fruitful comprehensive cooperation that both countries have been enjoying.
