(VOVworld) - Party Politburo member Dinh The Huynh visited the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Hanoi Radio and Television, the Communist Review and Voice of Vietnam (VOV) Radio on Wednesday.

On the occasion of 88th anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21), Huynh, who is also the Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, praised the contributions that journalists and media agencies have made to national development. During his visit to VOV, Mr. Huynh said that he highly appreciated the station’s development in becoming a leading media agency of the Party and State. He expressed his hope that VOV would continue reforming to meet information demands, create trust among domestic and overseas listeners and contribute more to national industrialization and modernization. To mark the occasion, the Vietnam Red Cross presented the “For the cause of Vietnam Red Cross” insignia to VOV staff.

On the same day, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front launched the 11th press contest “For the cause of national unity”. Addressing the event, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Huynh Dam highlighted the constant growth of Vietnamese press in the last 88 years and its contribution to strengthening national unity. He expressed his hope that media agencies would continue joining the Vietnam Fatherland Front to contribute to national development. Entries  must be published or broadcast between October 1, 2012 and June 21, 2014. All journalists, collaborators and news reporters from the Vietnamese media agencies and overseas Vietnamese are eligible to enter the contest. Entries will be received from September 2, 2013 to June 30, 2014.
