Vietnam, US discuss efforts to deal with dioxin consequences

(VOVworld) – The US has recently worked with Vietnam in dealing with the consequences of agent orange/dioxin, notably the ongoing decontamination project at Da Nang international airport. This was acknowledged in the 2nd Vietnam-US round-table meeting on agent orange/dioxin in the southern city of Bien Hoa on Monday. The meeting discussed Vietnam’s past efforts to deal with agent orange’s aftermaths and suggested ways to intensify efforts in the near future.

War veterans of the US, Australia, and New Zealand, who fought in Vietnam, were compensated for the effects of dioxin. So, according to the Vietnam Union of Disabled People's Associations, Vietnamese affected by the contaminant should also be given compensation and welfare from governments and companies directly involved.
