Vietnam attends 4th Moscow International Security Conference

(VOVworld) - Vietnam supports the expanded role of the United Nations and multilateral security mechanisms in ensuring regional and global security, peace, and stability, said Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Vo Van Tuan at the fourth Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) in Moscow. The event, held on April 16-17 by the Russian Defense Ministry, was attended by military and defense leaders of 70 countries and 6 international organizations.

Threats to global security and international cooperation topped the agenda of the conference. The participants discussed international cooperation to fight terrorism, Afghanistan’s situation after the withdrawal of international peacekeeping forces, ways to defeat the Islamic State, and the role of political and military tools in ensuring global security.
