(VOVworld) – The National Assembly will continue to discuss and propose ideas for the government to fulfill its mission in safeguarding national maritime sovereignty.

Minister and Head of the Government Office Nguyen Van Nen made the remarks at the government’s monthly press conference on Wednesday. Nen also briefed about many socio-economic issues. He commented on the government’s recent report on East Sea situation and solutions toward the issue: "Vietnam has full legal foundations and historical evidence asserting its possession of Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagoes, asking all parties to respect the status quo. Vietnam is determined to defend its sea and islands through peaceful means and urges all related parties to abide by international laws and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea."

Minister Nguyen Van Nen answered questions on the government’s measures regarding the balance of state budget, the investment in Long Thanh international airport project, land related petitions, the issuance of government bonds, the restructuring of the banking system, and dealing with bad debt.
