Vietnam elected Chair of WIPO Co-ordination Committee

(VOVworld) – Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN Nguyen Trung Thanh was elected the new Chair of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)’s Coordination Committee at the 54th session of the WIPO General Assembly.

The session, which concluded on Tuesday, was attended by representatives of 187 member states and international organisations. Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung praised the WIPO’s role in strengthening the world’s intellectual property system. Tung said technical cooperation between Vietnam and WIPO has improved. WIPO has helped Vietnam build institutions and technical facilities, train officials in intellectual asset management, join the 1925 Hague Agreement, and build development centres.
