Vietnam hopes for deeper cooperation with Belarus

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met the Belarusian Prime Minister Andrey Kobyakov on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Community in Kazakhstan on Friday. Prime Minister Dung said that Vietnam valued and wished to foster cooperation with its traditional friends, including Belarus. He expressed delight at the growth of bilateral ties in recent years and hoped for deeper cooperation in economics, trade, and investment.

The Belarusian Prime Minister stressed the frequent exchange of visits and contacts at international forums, considering it to be a driving force in bilateral cooperation and mutual trust.

The prime ministers showed their support for the maintenance of peace, stability, navigation and aviation security, safety and freedom in the East Sea and the peaceful settlement of disputes in line with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. They agreed on a number of methods to boost bilateral cooperation in the context of the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Community FTA, which is coming into force soon. They also agreed to increase the effectiveness of the inter-government committee on economic-trade and science-technology cooperation.

Prime Minister Dung said that the signing of the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Community FTA was a breakthrough for promoting economic, investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Community. He asked Vietnamese ministries and sectors to cooperate with the relevant Belarusian agencies in implementing the FTA for each side’s mutual benefit.
