Ngo Trong Vinh, President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, says: “Every year, the world observes the Day of Older Persons with a different theme. This year’s topic is “Take a Stand Against Ageism” because there is still discrimination against ageism. If we don’t have the scientific and cultural means to handle and balance relations, it could lead to disagreement. Older people account for about 10% of Vietnam’s population. Around 5 million people between 60-70 years old have bachelors, masters, and PhD degrees. Society should create conditions to take advantage of their intellects.”
