Vietnam ready for Rio Olympics 2016

(VOVworld) - A ceremony was organized in Hanoi Wednesday to send-off the Vietnam Olympic delegation to the summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Vietnam will send 23 athletes, its biggest contingent in history, to compete in 10 sports. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said he hopes the athletes will do their best. On behalf of his fellow athletes, fencer Vu Thanh An said: "On behalf all the athletes competing at the Olympic Games, I promise to compete fairly, honestly, and creatively, respect the rules of the Games and the customs of the host country, and popularize the image of Vietnam as a peaceful country with friendly people"

The Olympic Games will take place from August 5th to August 21st in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 10,500 athletes from 206 countries and territories will compete in 306 events in 28 sports.
