Vietnam respects regulations of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea

(VOVworld)-  The Ambassador and Head of the Vietnamese Mission to the UN has reiterated Vietnam’s compliance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea as well as legitimate rights and interests of other countries.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga told the 22nd session of the International Seabed Authority in New York on Wednesday that the Convention is the most important legal document defining sea and maritime activities for peace, security and freedom of navigation and aviation at sea. She said Vietnam urged related parties in the East Sea to restrain themselves and settle disputes by peaceful means based on international law, especially the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on Conducts of Parties in the East Sea and early finalization of a Code of Conducts of Parties in the East Sea.
