(VOVworld)- With 19 gold and 5 silver medals, Vietnamese athletes successfully defended their championship at the 4^th World Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) Championship in the capital city of Algiers, Algeria.

The host Algerian team came in the second place with 15 holds and followed by the Italian team with one gold. President of the Algerian Vovinam Federation Djouadj Mohamed praised the improved quality of the martial artists and the increasing popularity of Vovinam. The competition drew 200 participating contestants from 18 countries, including 22 contenders from Vietnam.
