Vietnam-China youth urged to live up to time-honoured friendship

(VOVworld) – Vietnamese Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong and Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping expressed their wish that the youth of the two countries spare no effort to promote the traditional friendship between the two nations.

On Friday top Chinese leader Xi Jinping and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered speeches at the 16th Vietnam-China Youth Friendship Meeting in Hanoi during Xi Jinping’s Vietnam visit. Mr. Trong said: "Vietnam and China share many similarities in their political regimes and have both entered crucial development stages. Both countries’ renewal process and international integration have gained significant achievements, yet face numerous challenges. Young people, as future masters of their countries, should play a vanguard role in contributing to national construction and development. " He added 65 years of achievements have been due in part to contributions by younger generations which have helped foster the bilateral relationship.

He expressed his hope that the younger generation will promote the values ​​of the Vietnam-China friendship and neighborliness which should be passed on from generation to generation.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said China will continue to spur mutually beneficial cooperation with neigbouring nations including Vietnam. China will be forever a comrade of other socialist countries and a trustworthy and sincere partner of all developing countries.
