(VOVworld) - The upcoming visit to Vietnam by Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on August 25-26 is a confirmation of India’s policy towards Vietnam, said Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Tan in an interview with the India Writes Network about Vietnam-India relations and the role of India in the region.

Ambassador Tan said the visit is significant as this is the first time Minister Sushma Swaraj has visited Vietnam since the new government was formed in India. He underlined that Vietnam and India have a good strategic partnership and said Vietnam will continue to support India’s Look East policy and is a loyal and steadfast friend of India. The visit by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will be followed by the visit to Vietnam of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
